Finnish solutions for reactive power compensation
We provide equipment tailored to our clients’ needs for reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering. We manufacture our products at our own factory in Finland.
Detuned capacitor banks
All electrical devices require active power to operate. Many electrical devices, such as electric motors, also require reactive power to operate. Reactive power can be drawn from the grid, but in that case, the network operator charges a reactive power fee. Another option is to produce reactive power locally using a detuned capacitor bank.
Inductive compensation banks
An inductive compensation bank is designed to compensate for capacitive reactive power. It is needed when the site’s network is on the capacitive side, supplying reactive power to the electricity network that supplies the site. Capacitive reactive power is generated by solar power plant equipment during cloudy weather or at night, or underground cabling, especially when idling.
Filter banks
Harmonic currents occur in electrical power systems due to nonlinear loads such as computers, frequency converters, and UPS systems. Harmonic currents cause, for example, increased losses and malfunctions in electrical equipment. A filter bank is needed when the amount of a specific harmonic (for example, the 5th or 7th) in the network is too high.

Capacitors & spare parts
Capacitors are intended for the local compensation of an electric motor or as a replacement part for a capacitor unit installed in a detuned capacitor bank.

TKF’s solutions make it possible to eliminate reactive power fees cost-effectively. The reactive power fee is immediately removed from your electricity bill, and the investment typically pays for itself within 1–3 years. This is also commonly referred to as correcting the power factor in the electricity network.
TKF's solutions are used at thousands of sites, ranging from office buildings to industrial facilities
Needs range from standard reactive power compensation to demanding applications that are critical to society. Hospitals (such as Tampere University Hospital and Satakunta Central Hospital in Finland), the Finnish Defence Forces, infrastructure projects (Helsinki Airport and the Helsinki metro), industry, real estate companies (VVO, Senate Properties), and electrical installations.
